"The Rivals" Play

"The Rivals, a play by Richard Brinsley Sheridan, is a satirical comedy of manners in five acts. It was first performed at Covent Garden, London, on January 17, 1775. The play contains the famous character, Mrs. Malaprop, from whose name the word malapropism (that is, the humorous or absurd misuse of a word, especially by confusion with one of similar sound) is derived.
